Recovery Point Objective

It is the target point in time to which data (electronic or paper) must be restored at the start of a recovery process. It defines the maximum acceptable data loss by ensuring that information is recovered from a known, valid state. In IT Disaster Recovery (ITDR), RPO determines how far back in time data and transactions must be restored, such as the last backup or the close of business. Also known as RPO.
